Barclays Premier League 2009 Season Odds

August 5, 2009

The new Barclays Premier League season is about to start, and after a major-tournament free summer football fans are eagerly anticipating the big kick off more than ever. After a busy summer in the transfer market, no one can be sure who is expected to finish where and the race is more open than ever. Will big spending Man City launch a title challenge or will the red half of Manchester retain the title? Can Liverpool continue their improvement and finally take the crown? Or will the Ancelotti reign at Chelsa bring glory back to the blues?

Its just as unpredictable at the bottom of the table, Wolves were run away winners of The Championship last season and have improved in a number of areas, Birmingham City have made a number of signings from abroad who could be hit or miss and Burnley have made a few signings and will be hoping to keep their fighting spirit from last season and “do a hull”.

Fernando Torres is the clear favorite in the top goalscorer betting, and not many would bet against the deadly Anfield hitman, but injury or a change in form can strike any player, and there are some fantastic odds on some of the other potential candidates due to the heavy betting on Torres. Drogba at 10/1 and Rooney and Anelka at 12/1 offer very good odds for players who have scored consistently over previous seasons.
